Sedation

With the use of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation (laughing gas), most anxious patients find their dental experience quite pleasant. The gas is breathed by the patient's nose creating a euphoria which lasts until the end of the appointment. Within minutes of discontinuing the gas, the patient is back to normal, able to drive home. For those patients with a higher degree of anxiety, we can combine the use of oral sedatives with nitrous oxide and achieve a "dream like" state. In most cases, the patient does not remember having the procedure done. Just a small pill and some deep breathing and you will dream through your appointment.
